What cannot be mixed with tazarotene (Tazorac)?

You should not use tazarotene in combination with any other retinoids such as retinol, tretinoin, trifarotene, or adapalene

If you are using AHAs and BHA in your skin care routine, you should apply this product on a different day, otherwise the combination of these ingredients can irritate your skin too much.

Tazarotene Advice 💙

• Always start with 0.05% — it’s the lowest strength, but still very potent. We recommend building tolerance here before considering 0.1%.

• If you choose to start with 0.1% without first using 0.05%, this is at your own risk. We strongly recommend beginning with the lower strength first.

• When starting any strength, use 2 nights per week for the first 3 weeks (for example: Monday + Thursday), then gradually increase to every other night or 3 nights per week if your skin is tolerating it well.

• Everyone’s skin is different — some people may experience irritation or redness even after one use, while others may have little to none.

• Even if you don’t get irritation right away, don’t increase usage too quickly. Irritation can show up days later, and overdoing it too soon can make your skin worse.

• More irritation does not mean better results. We do not recommend increasing use if you’re experiencing irritation, as it can damage your skin barrier and lead to sensitivity, redness, or discomfort.

• Be patient — give it at least 3 months to see the best results. Consistency over intensity is key

How to use Tazarotene Cream

This medication is for use on the skin only. Apply this medication  once daily at bedtime after getting your skin use to it. Wash your hands after applying, unless you are treating your hands for psoriasis.

Do not apply this medication to skin that is cut, scraped, sunburned, or affected by certain other skin conditions (eczema, seborrheic dermatitis)

If you are using this product to treat psoriasis, apply a thin film to cover only the psoriatic plaques. If a bath or shower is taken before application, make sure skin is dry before applying. If a moisturizer is used, apply it at least an hour before applying this medication

If you are using this product to treat acne, wash and dry the affected area(s). After skin is dry, apply enough to cover all of the affected area(s).

If you are using this product to treat skin aging symptoms wash and dry your hands before applying the medication, then clean your face with a mild cleanser and pat dry. After skin is dry, apply a pea-sized amount of this medication to your face/ You may use a moisturizing cream or lotion on you face before or after you apply this medication. Make sure that either the moisturizer or medication has been absorbed into your skin before you apply the second product.

Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, use it at the same time each day.

Do not use large amounts or apply this medication more often than once a day.  Your condition will not improve faster, and your risk of side effects will increase.
